Study Skills
The Study Skills Team provides opportunities for all students, regardless of experience or knowledge, to learn about different approaches and techniques to improve achievement.
These include:
Workshops topics include;
- Referencing using Harvard (APA 6th)
- Understanding assignments
- Reading and note-taking
- Essay and report writing
- Writing reflectively
- Getting organized and time management
- Revision and exam techniques
- Presentation skills
Drop-in : Runs throughout the academic year.
Study Skills Basics Guides : We produce a series of easy to read Study Skills Basics guides in response to many common queries.
1-2-1 appointments : For those who need more in-depth help the Study Skills Team offers 1-2-1 tutorials. We can’t proof read assignment for you, but we can help with things like:
- Checking whether referencing looks correct
- Planning and structuring work
- Understanding the feedback from a previous assignment
- Advice on time management, exams and presentations
Accessing the Study Skills Team
Tutorials can be booked via email or by telephone. In order to make a booking, students need to provide their name, roll number (found on their student card), a phone number, email address, their course, and when they are available during office hours.
