Primary Care Mental Health Team

The Primary Care Mental Health Team provides a range of services including counselling, brief CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), and CBT for more complicated cases.

Working with common mental health problems, they act as a single point of access where the team work out which service will suit the student's needs best.  Sometimes they will arrange to meet with the student to directly assess their needs in more detail before deciding with them what will be the best service.

The Team provides Brief Interventions including;

The service also liaises with a range of other community projects providing support to individuals.

Accessing the Primary Care Mental Health Team

Referral is made via the student's GP, to either the team in the North of Manchester at Clayton Health Centre, or the central team at Rusholme health centre, or the south team at Wythenshawe Offices, Forum Health.

The Primary Care Mental Health Team may decide the problem is too complex for them, if so, they will refer the student to the Complex Primary Care Psychology Service.
